GANDJA MONTEIRO - BIO
In what’s already become a prolific directing career, Gandja directed episodes 105 & 106 of Netflix’s wildly popular series WEDNESDAY, shot the final three episodes of the Marvel/Disney+ series, AGATHA ALL ALONG, as well as two episodes of THE WITCHER for Netflix.
Gandja most recently wrapped directing a block of episodes of PARADISE CITY for Hulu & Dan Fogelman. Next up is a pair of projects for Apple TV+, directing Vince Gilligan’s new show, SATICOY, followed by a block of episodes of MONARCH. Previously, Gandja served as the Producing-Director on Showtime’s THE CHI Season 4, where she was hired to change the look of the show and directed close to half the season, including the finale. Additionally, she directed the final two episodes of PANIC for Amazon executive produced by Adam Schroeder, and episodes of BRAND NEW CHERRY FLAVOR for Netflix created by Nick Antosca and Lenore Zion. Gandja also directed the final two episodes of the first season of DEAD CITY (THE WALKING DEAD).
Raised between New York City’s Lower East Side and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Gandja has been making films since she was 17 and traveling the world since she was just three months old. This early exposure to such vast cultures instilled a curiosity that has always inspired and informed her work. She is a graduate in film at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and AFI’s Directing Workshop for Women, as well as a fellow of Fox's TV Directing Lab and of Universal's Feature Director's Lab.
Gandja has directed work in more than a dozen countries, four continents and eight languages; and commercials and branded content for industry heavy-hitters such as Nike, Adidas, Google, Coca-Cola, AT&T, Chevrolet and music videos for rappers like Marcelo D2 and Pusha-T.
She is set to direct the feature film SABU for Warner Bros., produced by MACRO, with Anthony Ramos and Bad Bunny starring. The film is based on the life of Hector “Sabu” Monsegur - the founder of ‘LulzSec’, an offshoot of the infamous hacking collective “Anonymous”. She is also working with Stacey Sher (PULP FICTION) and Orion on the pre-apocalyptic horror film, HAGS.
